About the GeoNavigator

What is the GeoNavigator?

A choose-your-own adventure for creating maps and working with GIS data. This guided walk-through will support you with finding, cleaning, and visualizing data to create maps, as well as selecting the best platform.

Created by librarians and GIS staff across multiple University of California (UC) campuses to centralize support for beginning and intermediate mappers with geospatial research and map creation. Instead of navigating a traditional website structure, users follow a branching path of questions and resources tailored to their specific needs.

GeoConnect

GeoConnect is a group of Librarians and GIS staff from across the University of California system. We were awarded a two-year research grant from the Librarians Association of the University of California (LAUC). GeoConnect will assess what GIS users on our campuses seek with regards to geospatial resources and support and to collaboratively organize these resources. We aim to examine our existing LibGuides to assess the current content, conduct a survey across the UC System to assess what patrons are seeking, and finally create a centralized resource hub to support the UC community.

UC GIS Leadership

The UC GIS Hub is an initiative of the UC GIS Leadership Committee, an all-volunteer team of GIS experts from each of the UC campuses. The UC GIS Hub is our community’s public platform for exploring and downloading open data, discovering and building apps, and engaging with others to learn and discover, but most importantly to connect with colleagues, on our campus or across the UC, who are enthusiastic and interested in leveraging geospatial technology to meet each of our mission’s.
